The Look
Ha! I have discovered a parenting secret. Growing up, did your parents ever look at you like they knew the truth? Something had happened, maybe you did something wrong, and your parents looked at you like they knew exactly what was going on.
Maybe you already know this, but they didn’t. They had no clue.
My 6-year-old was acting a little strange after school today. I asked him what was wrong, and he, of course, said nothing. I said, “Are you sure? Did something happen at school?” Again, he said nothing was wrong.
I then administered The Look. I didn’t know if anything had really happened, but I decided to use The Look anyway.
He then broke into tears and told us what was wrong. It ended up being something small that he was blowing out of proportion, but that is not the point. He thought I knew something I really didn’t know. My own personal How-Does-He-Know mystique has been born.
MUAH HA HA HA!
