Day Four: A Day at the Spa or Photo Therapy

Photo Therapy is used to break up bilirubin in the body. High bilirubin levels result in jaundice. Most babies, premature or not, have some degree of neonatal jaundice, although the condition can last longer in premature infants. As I said, the photo therapy breaks up the bilirubin so the body can, in layman’s terms, poop it out.
