My ‘County’ Tis of Thee

Have you ever looked at word and thought there is no possible way it could truly be spelled the way it is?  The other day at work I was working on a query and I mistyped the word country as county.  A red flag went up in my head, so I looked back at the word, realized I spelled county and added the appropriate ‘R’ back in.

Then I just stared at the word.  Country.  Country.  Country is really ‘count’ then ‘ry’?  Count-ry.  It looked so foreign.

Even now, if I look at it too long, it starts to get funky.

Weird.
