The Book of Lies by Brad Meltzer
Forcing my way through. I like the story, but the writing… not so much.

1984 by George Orwell
Grade: A

This book was incredible. It was entertaining and thought provoking at the same time. This is the type of book that makes me wish I was in a book club because there are so many thoughts I have about it, I want to talk about it and figure it out. I don’t have enough good things to say about it. If you have never read it, do so. You won’t regret it.

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Grade: B-

Parts of it are great, and the story over all is pretty good. However, parts of it are rough, especially in beginning, almost as if the author didn’t no how to say what he needed to. But the last 25%-30% of the book is worth any rough spots you have to go through to get to there.

Cell by Stephen King
Grade: B

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Stephen King is a master storyteller and Cell is no exception. In a small way, it reminded me of The Stand in that it was a return to a similar post apocalyptic landscape where society has crumbled and a small band of ordinary people are left to do what they think is right.

Another thing I found interesting when comparing Cell to Stephen King’s other works was he cut right to the chase in this one. Right from the beginning it is WHAM! let’s go. And it works. The reader, like the characters, is caught up in the Pulse and is left to go on this journey with the characters to figure it out.

Great book. The long build up of tension and impending doom through out the novel was perfect. You have to keep turning the page. Cell was a cool, fun read.
